About the Programme M.Tech in Food Biotechnology
M.Tech with a specialization in Food Biotechnology is a postgraduate degree course that is offered in many universities in India. When done on a regular basis, it requires two years to complete. But one can also pursue this course through distance learning however the duration, in this case, may vary.
The course allows students to enhance their knowledge in all areas of food biotechnology. It is designed to introduce them to the production, design, and composition of food products.
What is M.Tech in Food Biotechnology?
M.Tech in Food Biotechnology is a Master’s degree taken after a Bachelor’s degree which provides students a comprehensive understanding of chemical and biological concepts/ processes under which the production, safety, nutritional value and taste of food items are maintained and enhanced.
The course also covers some topics such as fermentation, rapid detection techniques, bioterrorism, chemical senses, microbial biotechnology, nutrigenomics, and nutriceuticals etc.
M.Tech in Food Biotechnology Eligibility
- Students who wish to apply for this course must have a Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent (in the related stream) from a recognized university in which they must have scored a minimum of 50% aggregate.
- SC/ ST students have 5% of relaxation in the minimum aggregate.
