M.Tech with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering Course is a postgraduate course or a master’s degree which is offered in many colleges in India. The course generally requires 2 years to complete and can be done in regular or correspondence basis.
The course is designed to introduce students with the design, construction, and analysis of slopes, roadways, tunnels, landfills, dams, cuts and other systems that are supported by soil or rock.
M.Tech (Geotechnical Engineering) is a discipline of civil engineering but is also used by mining, petroleum, military or any other engineering related to construction in, with or on the ground.
It is basically the study of principles and mechanics of soil and rock. Students are educated in a way that they can evaluate risks posed by site conditions, investigate sub-surfaces problems and assess the stability of natural slopes and man-made soil deposits.
