M.Tech in the field of Marine Engineering is a Master’s degree or postgraduate course which is offered at the university level in India. Generally, the duration of the course is two years when done on a regular basis. But in the case of correspondence, it may vary among different institutes/ colleges.
The course educates students with a thorough understanding of nautical/ marine science and fundamentals of engineering. It aims to provide them an insight of design, construction, production and maintenance of marine vehicles.
Marine Engineering is basically the mixture of engineering and management.
It covers some of the common topics such as Marine Control and Automation, Safety Management, Marine Communications, Environmental Science, Electronic Navigation Systems, Applied Mathematics and Offshore Engineering etc.
With the degree of M.Tech (Marine Engineering), one can apply for several job profiles such as Naval Architect, Marine Engineer, Production Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Safety Officer, System Engineer and Instructor/ Lecturer etc.
