M.Tech with a major in Machine Design is a postgraduate degree course which is offered in many universities in India. The course generally requires two years to complete when done on a regular basis.
Students can also pursue this course in correspondence basis, however, the duration, in this case, may vary.
The course is designed to introduce students to the design of mechanisms and components using numerical, analytical and experimental approaches.
M.Tech in Machine Design is the fusion of Statistics and Dynamics, Material Science and Engineering, Mathematics and Kinetics. It is the process of engineering design which includes fluid power, computer-aided design, manufacturing and motion control.
Some of the common subjects under this course are Fracture Mechanics, Theory of Plasticity and Elasticity, Tribology and Bearing Design etc.
