HR Managers are connected with the activities in a company like training of the employees, compensation, safety, administration, and performance management, and employee motivation.

There are certificate, diploma, bachelor, postgraduate courses in Human Resource Management.

For seeking admission in an undergraduate course, the student must have completed a 10+2 stream from a recognized board or university. Students have to appear for an entrance exam like CAT/XAT/MAT. A good score in the exam is required for getting admission to the best colleges. The duration of the course is usually three years.

For admission into postgraduate courses, the candidate must have completed the bachelor's degree course and also appear for entrance exams like XAT/CAT/MAT. The course is usually of two years duration.

Specializations can opt at the Postgraduate and Ph.D. level. Some of the areas are Labour relations, Industrial relations, Training and Development, Recruitment and Selection, Compensation and Benefits, Labour Welfare and Social Security, Labour Legislation, Retention, and Motivation. There are several other areas as well suitable for specialization.

In India, the prominent Business Schools are the Indian Institute of Management which are located in various locations like Bangalore, Delhi, Ranchi, Shillong, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, kashipur, Udaipur, Raipur, and Indore. Admission to these colleges is through CAT. Students who excel in the exam will be given admission in any of the IIMs. Other prominent management institutes are XLRI, Jamshedpur, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and Symbiosis Institute of Business Management.

Job opportunities are multifold in this field. All companies and organizations need HR personnel in employing suitable people, training, and administration of their salaries, and also handling union-management relations. HR managers play a major role in the selection and recruitment of employees.

HR managers can look for positions in MNCs, industries, corporate houses, banks, financial institutions, and other offices.

HR personnel can work as Staffing Director, Technical Recruiter, Compensation Manager, Employee Relations Manager, Director of HR Training and Development, Organizational development and change consultant, HR Generalist, Technical Recruiter, and many other roles.

HR Management offers a rewarding career. The remuneration of the HR professionals depends on the size of the company, location, profitability, and economic activity of the company. The initial pay package may be between Rs10,000-Rs30,0000 per month. But HR professionals who complete their degree from IIMs will earn anywhere between 3 to 5 Lakhs per year. In senior positions, the salary will be around Rs.70,000 per month.
