Microbiology is derived from Greek word mikros means small and bios means life hence Microbiology is the branch of science in which we study microscopic organisms that are invisible through naked eyes such as bacteria, viruses, archaea, fungi, etc.
Course Description:
As it is a post-graduate program the academic session, of course, is two years which is divided into four semesters.
One can appear for a full-time Post-graduate course in Microbiology or can complete his/her studies through distance learning as well. There are few Universities which offers distance learning master degree program in Microbiology.
What is Master of Science [M.Sc] (Microbiology)?
Master of Science in Microbiology deals with the study of microscopic organism and their effect on humans and the life of a human. It helps to get the theoretical and practical aspects of the subject.
In the first year of the course curriculum, one goes through the knowledge of Bioinstrumentation, Food, and Dairy Microbiology, Molecular Immunology, Recent Trends in Virology, etc. while in next last two semester one go through the advance studies like Enzyme Technology, Microbial Genetics, Recombinant DNA Technology, Fermentation Technology, etc.
Eligibility Criteria
The Candidate should hold a graduate degree in the respective subject from a recognized University. The minimum aggregate to get admission in a course is 55% and can vary across different Universities.
