About M.Tech in Mining Engineering
M.Tech in the field of Mining Engineering is a postgraduate course or Master’s degree taken after a Bachelor’s degree which is offered in many universities in India. Students can pursue this course in regular basis or through distance learning.
Generally, the duration of this course is two years but it may vary in case of distance learning.
The course is designed to educate students with the theoretical knowledge and concepts of mining and various methods of extraction of different types of minerals (limestone, copper, gold, slate, gravel, diamond etc).
What is M.Tech in Mining Engineering?
M.Tech in Mining Engineering is the scientific study of extraction and dispensation of natural minerals from the environment. The course includes various methods of extraction depending upon the geology, mineralogy, and location of resources.
It also includes the study of several common topics such as mine safety, mine planning, mine environment and mine ventilation etc.
M.Tech in Mining Engineering Eligibility
Students applying for this course must have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- They must have a Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent (in the related stream) from a recognized university in which they must have scored a minimum of 50% aggregate.
- SC/ ST have a relaxation of 5% in the minimum aggregate.
