M.Tech with a specialization in Power Electronics is a postgraduate course which requires two years to complete. It is offered in many universities in India and can be done in regular basis or correspondence basis.
The main objective of this course is to introduce students with the switching of electronic circuits or electric motors in order to control the flow of electrical energy.
M.Tech in Power Electronics is the study of the technology behind power supplies, power converters, power inverters, motor soft starters and motor drives etc. The course also includes application areas such as Heating and Lighting Control, Energy Conservation, AC and DC Power Supplies, Transportation, Electric Motor Control and Power Quality Improvement etc.
Students are introduced to the technical concepts and skills/techniques to handle issues in the field of Power Electronics.
