B.A in Mathematics is an undergraduate degree course. The course spans a period of 3 years. A B.A in Mathematics includes the study of mathematical principles, theories, measurements, properties, relationships of quantities, and the application of Mathematics in the field of humanities and social sciences. Apart from B.A. in mathematics, a person can also pursue a B.Sc. in Mathematics. Both the degrees have the same core subject, the main difference lies in their orientation towards the application of mathematics. While B.A. in Mathematics studies the application of Mathematics in social sciences, B.Sc. in Mathematics studies the application of Mathematics in physical sciences. B.A. in mathematics is suitable for students who are interested in the field of social sciences.
A student desirous of pursuing B.A. in Mathematics must have passed his/her 10+2 exam from any recognized board or university in any stream with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
Some institutes might also require you to secure a minimum of 50% or higher marks in 10+2 to obtain admission in this course.
Persons who have a qualified B.A. in Mathematics can work in Banks, Financial Institutions, and other Govt. and Private organizations as an accountant. You can also work in Insurance Agencies and Research and Development Organizations. Working in Govt. Treasuries or Engineering Firms are also an option. You can also pursue a Master’s degree in Mathematics after completing your B.A in Mathematics. You can also teach Mathematics in schools or through private tuition. You can also become a Statistician or an Economist. You can also work as a full-time or freelance technical writer.
