The art and science of planning, designing, and constructing buildings and other physical structures is defined as Architecture. The activity of planning and designing from micro-level (construction details and furniture) to macro-level (urban design, landscape architecture) all comes under Architecture.
The course curriculum is of 2 years divided into 4 semesters for Master of Architecture (Urban & Rural Planning). It deals with the study of planning and architecture of the rural and urban regions. One can make his/her career as a Town Planner, Draughtsman, Disaster Management Specialist.
The program offers complete recitation between Theory, Practice, and Research. Theory keeps the current theoretical positions on urban design as well as architecture. This 4-semester cycle is aimed at imparting knowledge of tools, skills, and strategies to design in varied conditions. It also offers opportunities for students to be involved in live urban design projects under the College’s Consultancy Cell. Anybody who is interested in planning can imagine and draw it on paper to give it a form should choose this course. This trains an individual for the systematic planning and application of transport designing and development of cities or towns, housing schemes, environmental planning, etc.
The candidate must have passed B. Arch or its equivalent from a recognized university. General and OBC categories must have secured at least 60% marks. For SC/ST/PD category candidates, this percentage is 55% Admission will be made on the basis of GATE marks and Interview/Written Test.
