About Medical Entrance Exams


To judge whether a particular student is eligible to pursue studies in medical sciences after the class 12 levels, several entrance exams for the same are conducted. Students who pass these exams are qualified to pursue medical studies at the graduate level.

After completing graduation in the field of medicine, students have to take various entrance exams to further pursue medicine at the post-graduate level. It has recently been in the news that the National Board of Examinations is mulling over a decision to do away with all the entrance exams for post-graduate medical studies and replace them with a single exam that grants admissions to all the institutes and colleges.

The entrance exams for medicine are not limited to the exams for courses like MBBS, BDS, MD/ MS, etc. there are various other ways to get into the line of medicine too. Some people aspire to make a career in nursing. Most of the medical institutes conduct entrance exams to shortlist students fit to pursue a course in the same.

Many also opt for pharmaceutical studies the admissions to which are also through various entrance exams.

Eligibility


Those who wish to sit for medical entrance exams at the under-graduate level should take up Science at the class 12 levels with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

For B.Sc.-nursing, the basic criterion is the same as above. There is an added condition that the applicant should be 17 years of age while applying. For M.Sc. courses, one should have completes their graduation with a certain requisite aggregate which is different for different exams.

To be eligible to sit for the various entrance exams that lead one to post-graduate courses in medicine, one needs to be in possession of a graduate-level medical degree from a recognized Indian university.
