Panchgani, also known as Paachgani (in Marathi), is a hill station and municipal municipality in the Satara district of Maharashtra, India. Panchgani receives a large number of tourists every year. It is also known for having numerous prestigious residential educational institutes. Panchgani is around 108 kilometres from Pune and 250 kilometres from Mumbai. Panchgani was constructed by the British under the British Raj as a summer resort in the 1860s under the guidance of Lord John Chesson. Panchgani was designed as a retirement community since the weather was good all year.
