As per data submitted by the corporations to the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in December 2017, there were 719 sanctioned posts for special educators in the north corporation and 365 in the east corporation.
News large description:

Candidates appointed by the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) are likely to fill the large number of vacant sanctioned posts for Special Education Teachers in MCD primary schools within three months, officials in the South Delhi Municipal Corporation have said. However, they are unsure of the number of candidates that would be appointed by the board.

GOOGLE_AD_DATA

As per data submitted by the corporations, which have over 1,500 schools under them, to the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in December 2017, there were 719 sanctioned posts for special educators in the north corporation and 365 in the east corporation. Of these, 28 teachers had been appointed on a regular basis and two on a contractual basis in the former; and 33 had been appointed on a regular basis in the latter. This meant that only four per cent and nine per cent of the posts had been filled at the time.

SDMC officials from the education department said a requisition for 1,540 special educators had been sent to the DSSSB, for which examinations were conducted in July.

“The results of the exam are also out, and the DSSSB will soon begin sending dossiers to us. Once that happens, the posts should be filled in three months. However, we have not been intimated of how many candidates have been selected,” said a senior official from the department.

For candidates to be selected, they will need to qualify the Central Teacher Eligibility Test. The results for this year’s tests have not been declared yet.

Officials said that if the number of candidates selected by the board falls short of the number of sanctioned special educator posts, the rest will be filled through contractual appointments.
News Source (Indian Express)
