The Army Public School, Pune was established in June 1988 at Dighi, Pune to give high standard Public School type of education at a reasonable cost, to the children of defence personnel.
On 01 April 1997, it was shifted from Dighi to its present location at Southern Command, opposite the race course in a lush green surroundings with ample open space where students can interact with nature. The School has two wings -Junior Wing and Senior Wing.
"Give a child a fish; you have fed him for a day.
Teach a child to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime"
This is possible provided the child is taught to think out of the hat and not the old cliché. For this to happen there has to be a paradigm shift in the teaching learning process not only on teacher's mind and heart with their innocence and inquisitiveness. Young minds often draw their teachers into a world of curious wonderment, unraveling the mysteries of everyday life . To assist our students in their pursuit of knowledge and in expanding their horizons, efforts are made to provide ample opportunities for growth and self realization. This infuses dynamism in education.
The need of the hour is not only to develop hard skills but soft skills too. At APS Pune a platform is provided to the children to develop these skills through curricular and extra curricular activities in a holistic manner. It is a constant endeavour to groom our students so that they can run azure on golden sands.
It is well said, 'History is theirs whose language is the sun'
