Students often confuse design with the fashion industry but they have to understand that fashion is one segment of it, says Sanjay Gupta, vice-chancellor, World Design University, Sonipat, Haryana.
"Design is the process of envisioning and planning the creation of objects, interactive systems, building and vehicles. It is user-centered, thus users are at the heart of design thinking and approach. It is about creating solutions for people, and addressing a need or a problem," adds Gupta
ASPECTS OF DESIGN
Gupta informs that design has four different aspects including Product Design, Communication Design, Space Design, and Industrial Design.
Product design deals with a new products to be sold by a business. It is essentially the efficient and effective generation and development of ideas through a process that leads to the creation of new products.
Communication designs deal with visualization, applied arts new media, and graphic design while industrial design is all about creating industrial products. Space design is using space wisely. It includes architecture and interior design.
COURSES AVAILABLE
Gupta claims that the World University of Design is the first university dedicated to design education. The university offers 23 specialized undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various Design arenas.
The University has international collaborations with foreign universities including Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Vancouver Film School of Canada, University of West Scotland University of Huddersfield Oxford Brookes University, UK; Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Textiles, etc.
