How to prepare for NEET from Class 10



Every year a large number of medical aspirants appear for this exam. NEET UG Entrance exam is considered to be one of the toughest exams but smart and strategic planning and preparation can help the aspirants to crack it.

Here are some points to remember for NEET preparation.

START EARLY

Start your NEET preparation journey from class 10th itself. Although the syllabus of class 10th is not included in the NEET exam, it will help you sharpen your basics which will help you to thoroughly strengthen your class 11 and 12 syllabi.

KNOW THE SYLLABUS AND MAKE A STUDY PLANNER

The foremost thing before you start your preparation is to gather complete information about the officially prescribed syllabus. Since you are simultaneously preparing for board exams as well, make a list of topics which require extra attention for the NEET exam.

Getting a gist of the syllabus from class 10th will help aspirants to know about the weak and tough points and thus they could prepare better.

Next step should be to break up the entire syllabus into small sections that need to be covered. Making a detailed study planner will help you to cover the entire syllabus thoroughly. The key to crack this examination is to be clear in the basics of the topics. Try to cover the syllabus in the first few months so that you have time for revision and practicing test series in the later months. Be disciplined and do not skip any step of the planner.

MAKE A TIMETABLE

Make a timetable and stay true to it. For cracking NEET, time management is utmost important. Every hour and every day counts. Devote at least 5-6 productive hours for your preparation. Take short breaks while studying. Avoid social media and other distractions. Give your best efforts till the day of the examination.

CHOOSE THE CORRECT STUDY MATERIAL

Updated and validated study material is required in addition to NCERT books. Choose the study material which has all the topics covered. Right books can take your preparation journey in the right direction. Attending extra coaching classes or self-study is entirely the aspirants call. But it is important to get the doubts clear from your teacher alongside. Do not keep them pending. NEET guidebooks and preparation books on all the subjects are available. Look for the books which have the theory with examples covered and also have practice questions to solve.

MAKE NOTES FOR REVISION

You do not have much time to keep coming back to the topics again and again. Make a notebook with all the important tips, tricks, shortcuts and important pointers to remember which you can go through while doing the revision.

PRACTICE MAKES ONE PERFECT

Practice as many questions, mock tests, and previous year examinations to get the hack of the exam pattern. Do not neglect any question or topic because you find it difficult to understand. Get your doubts cleared and do not keep them piling up. Don’t just practice moderate to high difficulty level questions, go for easy ones too. Practice will help you know about your strengths and weaknesses and you will be able to learn from your own mistakes. Never give up. Aim for accuracy and speed as both are essential elements for clearing NEET exam.

MAINTAIN CALM AND COMPOSURE

Anxiety can hamper your preparation to a great extent. Remain calm and composed throughout the preparation months. Remember to give in your 100 percent. To get a good score in NEET Examination, one of the most important things is not to stress and panic on the exam day. Be confident about your preparation and don’t lose your cool. All the best!
