Persian is a foreign language spoken mainly in Iran and some other parts of Central Asia. B. A in Persian is a 3-year undergraduate degree course. The course includes the study of the origin and history of the Persian language, its grammar, the linguistic aspects, its literature, poetry, prose, drama, society, and culture. Persian literature is thousands of years old. Although some of the pre-Islamic literature is lost a rich collection of Persian Literature is still preserved. People who are interested in making a career in Persian research or teaching can opt for this course. There are a few institutes in India that offer degree courses in Persian.
To seek admission in B.A. in Persian, a student needs to have passed his/her 10+2 or equivalent exam in Arts stream with Persian as one of the subjects from any recognized board or university.

You will be eligible to pursue an M.A in Persian after completing your B.A. in Persian. If you are inclined towards teaching, you can pursue a B.Ed. or a D.Ed. to become a teacher of the Persian language in any govt. or private school. Becoming a private tutor is also an option available to you. You can also become a language instructor for people wishing to learn Persian. You can work as a translator or interpreter in private as well as govt. institutions. You can also work in the Iranian Embassy in India or abroad as a translator or a typist. You can also contribute to Persian Literature by writing Persian prose or poetry.
