About the Programe B.Sc Information Technology (IT)

Ques. Is BSc IT better than B.Tech IT?
Ans: This depends on various factors. From an educational perspective BSc, IT is better as it is a 3-year course as opposed to B.Tech IT which takes 4 years. This means if you enter the workforce right after completing your course, you will be earning compared to a B.Tech student who will be in their 4th year. The BSc IT syllabus is also attuned to industry requirements. The downside however is that a B.Tech IT fresher will be offered more than a BSc IT fresher.
Ques. Is there distance education for BSc IT?
Ans: Yes, BSc IT is offered in distance mode in India. Some of the institutions that offer the same are Sikkim Manipal University and IMTS Noida. While IGNOU is a major center for Distance Education, they don't offer BSc IT.
Ques. Is BSc IT easy?
Ans: From an academic standpoint, a B.Sc is easier especially as it is a year shorter than a B.Tech. If you go for a Master’s degree afterward you could get into teaching. Career-wise also there are many options to choose from.

Ans: If you wish to increase your skillset there are a lot of courses available online that will complement your degree. There are paid as well as free courses. You can create an account on Coursera, udemy, or udacity and join the various programs.

Ans: Both courses are similar. While BSc IT deals with software, B.Sc CS also dabbles with hardware. The opportunities after both are also more or less similar. The salary might be slightly greater after a B.Sc CS. This depends on the company.

Ans: Yes. Some institutions offer lateral entry for BSc IT such as Lovely Professional University. Candidates with a diploma in Engineering, IT or Computer Science with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks are eligible to apply.

Ans: No, BSc IT is an undergraduate program of 3 years with an emphasis in networking and software while a bachelor in Information Technology is a 4-year course for which admission is through nationwide entrance exam

Ans: Yes. Students who completed 10+2 in commerce can pursue BSc in IT. However, they would have taken mathematics as a subject during 10+2.
