About M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering
M.Tech with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering Course is a postgraduate course or a master’s degree which is offered in many colleges in India. The course generally requires 2 years to complete and can be done in regular or correspondence basis.
The course is designed to introduce students with the design, construction, and analysis of slopes, roadways, tunnels, landfills, dams, cuts and other systems that are supported by soil or rock.
What is M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering?
M.Tech (Geotechnical Engineering) is a discipline of civil engineering but is also used by mining, petroleum, military or any other engineering related to construction in, with or on the ground.
It is basically the study of principles and mechanics of soil and rock. Students are educated in a way that they can evaluate risks posed by site conditions, investigate sub-surfaces problems and assess the stability of natural slopes and man-made soil deposits.
M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering Eligibility
- Students applying for Geotechnical Engineering course must have a Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent (with Physics or Mathematics as major subjects) from a recognized university in which they must have scored a minimum of 50% marks (may vary).
- SC/ ST students have 5% of relaxation in the minimum aggregate.
