CENTRAL SCHOOL FOR TIBETANS (CST), SHIMLA
Chota Shimla, a central school for Tibetans that was formerly known as the Tibetan School Society, was established in early 1961 when the Tibetan Administration in Dharamsala named Shri Sonam Topjor Tethong as its first principal. When the initial group of 155 students from a Dharamsala nursery came, Shri Sonam Topjor Tethong and his associates completed the required preparations. On May 5, 1962, the CTSA, formerly known as the Tibetan Schools Society, took over the school. Pt. Shyam Narayan served as the organizations first Secretary at the time (TSS). The accommodations were not sufficient for the growing number of youngsters.
