Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, KNURE, is one of the specialized universities of Ukraine, in which applied information technologies and innovations in the interests of sustainable development are focused. KNURE has the most modern material and technical base for training and research, in which engineering and information technologies can be integrated with other disciplines. Everything we do at KNURE has three different perspectives: innovation, sustainability and reality, which means cooperation and exchange with business, industry and society.
Vision of KNURE. We are a modern scientific and educational hub that provides practical knowledge in close cooperation with business and through project training. We provide affordable education by training digital world professionals.
The mission of KNURE. To prepare talented engineers for successful digital transformation of Ukraine and the world.
In 1930, the Kharkiv Engineering and Construction Institute (KHIBI) was founded on the basis of the Civil Engineering Faculty of the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (KhPI) and the Architectural Faculty of the Kharkiv Art Institute . In 1934, HIBI included the Kharkiv Geodetic Institute and the Research Institute of Geodesy and Cartography. In 1941 there were 1734 students, classes were conducted by about 200 teachers at 4 faculties: architecture, construction, plumbing, geodesy. In 1944, HIBI was renamed the Kharkiv Mining and Industrial Institute of the Coal Industry of the USSR (KhGII). Faculties: mechanical engineering (2 specialties: mining engineering and engineering technology); mining and electromechanical; industrial transport. In 1947, the Kharkiv Mining and Industrial Institute was renamed the Kharkiv Mining Institute of the USSR Ministry of Higher Education . Faculties: mining, mining, mining and electromechanical, industrial transport. In 1962, the KhGII was renamed the Kharkiv Institute of Mining Engineering, Automation and Computer Engineering (HIGMAOT) . Faculties: automation of production processes in the mining industry, radio engineering, mining engineering. In 1966 HIGMAOT was renamed the Kharkiv Institute of Radio Electronics (HIRE). Faculties of 1966: automation, computer engineering, radio engineering, radiophysics, electronics, mining engineering, 1972: control systems, design of radio equipment, radio engineering, computer engineering, electronics. In the early 1970s, HIRE trained engineers in 7 specialties: 0606 - automation and telemechanics; 0608 - mathematical and computational devices; 0611 - electronic devices; 0612 - industrial electronics; 0704 - radio physics and electronics; 0701 - radio engineering; 0705 - design and technology of radio equipment production. In 1981, the institute was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and in 1982 it was named after the outstanding scientist and designer of rocket and space technology, Academician MK Yangel . In 1993, the Kharkiv Institute of Radio Electronics was renamed Kharkiv State Technical University of Radio Electronics (KhDTURE). In 2001 it received the status of a national one.
The university consists of 7 faculties, 33 departments. The university has about 7,000 students in various forms of education in 46 specialties from 7 fields of knowledge. About 600 foreign students from almost 40 countries study.
