BCA/MCA/Computers is a graduate and postgraduate degree course in computer science. BCA and MCA are both three year duration courses.
For BCA, the candidate must have completed 10+2 pattern from a recognized board or university with mathematics as one of the main subject. They have to appear for an entrance exam as well.
Subjects like Business Communication, Programming principles, Algorithms and Business Accounting, computer networks, database management, designing, cost accounting, software engineering, numerical methods, inventory management, various computer languages like Java, C++ are taught. In MCA the topics are covered in a more detailed manner and the student can specialize in a chosen subject. At the end of the course, student has to submit a project report based on the given project.
As BCA and MCA are computer science related courses, students have wide range of opportunities in various public and private sectors. Nowadays all organizations are computerized and hence the need of skilled and trained computer operators is always present. Students can work as software programmer, web designer, system administrator, network administrator and web designer.
India is a favourite place for investments and several multinational companies have set up their branches in India. Since 1990s, after economic liberalization, job openings have increased in IT industry.
Students can pursue MCA after completing BCA and look for better opportunities.
