The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT- Bombay) has this year too topped the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings from India followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Madras. In the latest rankings, eight Indian universities have figured among the top 100 in the list of Asia’s top 50 universities. However, no Indian University managed to come under the top 10 slot.
The National University of Singapore has been assessed as Asia’s best university, followed by University of Hong Kong, Nanyang Technological University, Tsinghua University and Peking University.
The overall ranking of the Indian institutes has improved with IIT-Bombay moving up to the 33rd position. Last year the institute was at 34. IIT-Delhi is at the 40th position, IIT-Madras at the 48th position, Indian Institute of Science at 50, IIT-Kharagpur at rank 53, IIT-Kanpur (61), Delhi University and IIT-Roorkee are among the Indian institutions in the top 100.
As per a QS release, there are 75 universities from India in the top 500 Asia list.
Universities have been assessed on academic reputation, employer reputation, student-faculty ratio, international faculty and students, staff with PhD, papers per faculty and citations per paper, among other parameters.
