Salisbury Bank awards higher education scholarships to local students

Lakeville >> Salisbury Bank is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2017 Annual Scholarship Program.

Salisbury Bank created its Annual Scholarship Program in 2009 to assist students who have a proven financial need and who are already making a difference in their communities. Eight scholarships in the amount of $3,000.00 were awarded to assist eligible students seeking a college degree in a variety of programs.

The recipients are high-achieving students who possess a variety of interests, have demonstrated leadership experience, displayed consistent community involvement, and strive to make their world a better place. The 2017 Scholarship recipients include:

• Alexis Ghi of Oliver Wolcott Technical High School, Torrington, CT
• Angela Tabor of Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Falls Village, CT
• Connor Reid of Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Falls Village, CT
• Kelsey Netzer of Mount Everett Regional School, Sheffield, MA
• Devin Walker of Taconic High School, Pittsfield, MA
• Faith Mauk, Dover High School, Dover Plains, NY
• Nicholas Harding, Dover High School, Dover Plains, NY
• Leá Adams, Dover High School, Dover Plains, NY

Applicants were evaluated according to a 100-point system that takes into account financial need, academic achievement, community service, volunteerism, and leadership. The top scorers were interviewed by the Bank’s Scholarship Selection Committee.

A celebration was held on Thursday, June 15 in Lakeville, in honor of the recipients’ accomplishments.
