St. Vincent's Convent Sr. Sec. School is founded in the year 1974 by late Rev. Monsignor Jacob Vadakeveetil, then Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Balasore. It is a recognized unaided Christian Minority Institution under the religious jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Balasore and its chairperson is Rt. Rev. Simon Kaipuram, the Bishop of Balasore. The school is administered by the Sisters of the Congregation of the Mother of Carmel. Inspired by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara a great educator, social reformer and the founder of the Congregation of the Mother of Carmel, the sisters offer their dedicated and selfless service for the holistic development of the students and the people in the vicinity.
From its humble origin with 80 students the school has grown to a full - fledged institution with nearly 2000 students and today it is regarded as the premier institution of Balasore providing quality education to the children of this locality. Affiliated to the council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations New Delhi (ICSE, ISC Board: OR004) prepares its students for the ICSE Examination at X level and ISC Examination at +2 level.
The school has acquired a unique system of motivation and self-discipline and is well known for a sound character formation and quest for excellence. The school has a legacy of excellence in curricular and co-curricular fields and it is marching forward achieving accolades and winning laurels in various spheres.
Value-oriented life and human concern are the unique characteristics imbibed from St. Vincent De Paul - the patron saint of our institution which are the paramount goals in our education system. Basic learning skills and developing fundamental academic competence are also equally emphasized. Other goals espoused are love of learning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, aesthetic appreciation, inquisitiveness, creativity, and interpersonal aptitude.
The academic programmes are complemented by opportunities for students to participate in varied dynamic extracurricular and leadership activities as well as community service initiatives. These co-curricular activities help the students to explore the hidden potential and to excel in various fields. The school aims to encourage creative and unfettered imagination, in students and teachers through the following activities.
To facilitate leadership qualities and competitive spirit among students, they are divided into four houses viz., Blue, Green, Red and Yellow.
Weekly special assembly lead by each class is a unique opportunity for each student of the class to outshine with their talents and values. It inculcates moral and spiritual values in the minds of students effectively.
Sports activities include Athletics, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket, Track and field events, Table tennis, Kabadi, Kho-kho, Taekwondo, and Band.
Drawing and painting, Toy making, Card making, Clay modeling, Fabric painting, Collage making, Cartoon making, Needle work, Best out of waste, Album making, Project presentation, Model and Chart making, and Gardening contribute to develop creative minds of children. We conduct lot of competitions to expose talents of children.
Training and competitions in Creative writing, Poem composition, Extempore, Dramatics, Debating, Public Speaking, Quizzing, Declamation, Classical and Folk Dance, Instrumental music etc. help the holistic development of children. Educational Excursions and class picnics are also part of our educational endeavours.
Various individual, inter-house and inter-school competitions are highly encouraged.
Documents required at the time of Reporting
There is a special Cash award sponsored by Priya Capila who was the student of the school from 1982-85. This cash award consists of Rs. 5000/- to the student who got 100% in maximum subjects in the ICSE board examination 2017.
It is awarded to Mast. Shivam Padhi who bagged 100% for three subjects in the ICSE exam 2017.
Alumni association of St. Vincent's School sponsored special cash awards to all outgoing students who secured 95% and more marks in the board examination. It consists of Rs. 1100/- each. This cash award is given to 17 students in 2017. In 2018 three students who scored above 95% are awarded with Rs. 1001/- each and 30 students who scored above 90% are awarded with Rs. 501/- each.
Abhishek Roul memorial rolling trophy is given to the meritorious student of Class X in recognition of his multi-faceted talents. Abhishek Roul an ex-student of our School who was called for eternal life in 1999. In his memory his parents has contributed this rolling trophy to the School. Considering Abhishek's multi-talented personality as he was not only good in studies but also excellent in music, drama and tennis.
Mrs. Rita Patnaik was most cherished and idolised madam who passed away on 23rd August 2018. In her honour, Mrs. Rita Patnaik memorial rolling trophy is contributed to the School by one of her meritorious student Soumya Ranjan Das who has brought to lime light from the shady corner of his classroom when he was in Class 3 by our beloved Rita madam. At present he (Dr. Soumya Ranjan Das) is a well known doctor and extending his valuable medical care to many poor people of Raigarh through his dedicated service. This prestigious rolling trophy is dedicated to most excellent outgoing student with academic, behavioural and co-curricular excellence of senior most class.
