Established in 1966, St. Jude’s School set the precedence in primary education in a time when Gorakhpur city had hardly any facility to cater to the education needs of small children. On January 7,1966, Mrs. Grace Winifred Cyrill, veteran educator and the first Railway Service Commission appointed Principal of the Railway Mixed primary school,Gorakhpur (now known as N.E. Rly Sr. Sec. School), decided to mobilized her expertise for the benefit of the general public of Gorakhpur. Through her unrelenting efforts, selfless love for children and substantial help from her husband, St. Jude’s Primary School was established. In the present day the good work of the Founder-Principal is being carried on by her family. With their enterprise and labor, the school has maintained its status quo of being one of the top schools in Gorakhpur. The school was previously recognized by the directorate of Anglo Indian Edu. (U.P.) up to class VIII and is now affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi, up to class XII..
