A meeting on 04-07-1934 was arranged at the house of Khan Bahadur Shaikh Ali Ba’akza wherein the condition of education of Muslims was the subject of discussion at length. The intellectuals of the community were present in large numbers. In this meeting Sir Ali Muhammed Khan Dehlvi Saheb explained the position of education among Muslims in a forceful style. In emotional and sentimental oratory, he appealed very forcefully that if we want that our community should come forward, then we will have to give the same importance to worldly (secular) education as we give to religious education. Besides, he exhorted to start a school and he then suggested that we will have to give worldly (secular) education if we want our community to achieve progress. In the same meeting it was accepted unanimously to start a school and for that a society was considered to be registered and for that society, it was decided to prepare a new constitution. And for this, a committee was formed under the presidentship of (the deceased) Janab Khalique Amla Saheb, head master, government high school. In this committee Janab Saiyed Zaheeruddin Surti-Jamadar Saheb, Janab Professor Tafazzul Husain Shamsi Saheb, Janab Saiyed Azimuddin Saiyed Fakhruddin Munadi Saheb and Janab Advocate Kazi Vafiuddin Sirajuddin Saheb were appointed as members. Afterwards Janab AbdulQadir Shaikh Saheb was also included in this committee. The constitution prepared by this committee was later on placed before the gathering of the common Muslims of Surat city and was unanimously approved. And on 23-06-1936, the Surat District Muslim Education Society was established, which was registered under the Society Registration Act. The first office bearers were selected as under:
