DPS, Bhilai is one of the satellite schools in the chain of schools run by The Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi, a non-profit making organisation, dedicated to the cause of quality education in India and abroad. The co-educational school was established in Bhilai on 20th August, 1985, in collaboration with the public sector undertaking, Bhilai Steel Plant (SAIL), which provided the land (16 Acres) and assistance in various other matters at its inception. Since then, the DPS Society New Delhi and B.S.P. management have been a constant source of guidance and encouragement to the school, from time to time. With 204 students on its rolls in classes VI-IX at the outset, the school has come a long way with a present strength of 5212 in classes Nursery to XII and 195 teachers. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.

Only students with minimum CGPA: 9 or 85.5% aggregate score in Class VIII Half Yearly Exam will be registered and are required to take the entrance examination. The shortlisted candidates will be interviewed and the final list of selected students will be declared thereafter.
