Situated in the heart of the city of Surat- the financial capital of Gujarat, foundation of Vidya Bharti Vidyalaya was laid at Sonifalia by Vidya Bharti Trust with 14 students in 1963. The aim behind starting Hindi medium Primary school was to look after the interests of children of migrants of North India and other Hindi speaking states as they were finding it difficult to adjust in Gujarati Medium Schools.
Starting of Vidya Bharti Hindi co-education Vidyalaya in Sonifalia came as a boon to the people. This not only helped the migrants but also proved a turning point for flourishing of Surat. Later on the school shifted to Gopipura for Secondary and Higher Secondary classes.
With the expansion of the school there was a need to shift the school to a bigger and open area to Bhatar . Thereafter, the Trust, looking at the demand of the public started English Medium school in 1987 with pre-primary classes. Now the school is having Hindi medium classes upto Higher Secondary level with commerce stream & English medium with commerce & science stream .Today schools of both the mediums are running smoothly having more than 5700 students with excellent results and standing high among the best of Surat.
