Mahindra United World College of India (MUWCI) was the 8th institution to become a UWC member. MUWCI opened its doors on November 28, 1997, furthering the UWC mission to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. The inaugural class comprised 91 students from around the world.
Since then, MUWCI has grown both in terms of people as well as resources. From launching a biodiversity reserve to project-based learning opportunities, we strive to offer our students a unique and unparalleled college experience.
MUWCI’s Pioneering IB++ Approach
MUWCI is one of the leaders in the shift to an IB education in India, being the third school in the country to offer the IB Diploma Programme. Like Atlantic College, MUWCI has also played an important role in developing the IB curriculum.
We have piloted and developed the curriculum for many IB subjects in our areas of expertise:
International Education
Creativity and the Arts
The IB invites only a small number of schools to pilot new curriculum/subjects based on their demonstrated expertise in curricular innovation, advanced faculty experience, and the expectation that the school will attend and contribute to curriculum improvement workshops at the Hague.
We also go well beyond the IB CAS requirements with our intensive Triveni Programme that all students must participate in. The programme includes both on- and off-campus service, creativities, and activities, as well as 4 full weeks of project-based learning in various parts of India. Our deep expertise in delivering CAS programmes bring several international schools to our campus for customised CAS Programmes.

Enrolment Timeline for students applying through the Indian National Committee
The online application form is usually available between July and September the year before you would commence your studies (applicants should currently be in X or XI grade). There is an application fee, but you may contact the UWC Committee of India for a waiver if the cost is prohibitive. The UWC Committee of India, not MUWCI, runs the application and selections process.
01 - Applications Open
Submit the application fee and access the application form through the UWC Committee of India. In addition to the application, you will need to submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher or Head of School and your latest transcript/grades for the past and current year.
02 - Selections Phase
If the selection committee decides to advance your application, you will be invited to attend the selection camp via email. Applicants living overseas will be asked to schedule an interview via phone or video conferencing.
03 - Selection Day
Short-listed candidates will be invited to an in-person selection event on our campus outside of Pune. Attendance is highly encouraged! Under exceptional circumstances (mainly due to prohibitive costs for applicants from further regions such as the North-Eastern states, Ladakh, or Kashmir), we will consider phone or video call interviews or ask alumni from these regions to conduct interviews.
Age requirement
Students will normally be between 16 and 18 years on September 1 of the year they matriculate at MUWCI. The College will, at its discretion, make exceptions for individual cases.
