Army Schools in Jammu

Jammu is a part of the Jammu and Kashmir region which is the Northern-most state of the country and. The city of Jammu is the most prominent part of this region. It is also the economic capital of the region due to its very good and well-developed infrastructure. Owing to this, the most number of people, especially merchants and businessmen choose to reside here. It is said to be one of the most populated cities in the region. This has led to the flourishing of a huge number of schools in the region so as to provide good education to the children of a large number of people residing there.

A long time back, a chain of 130 public schools was established across the country by the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). These schools are called the Army Public Schools or the APS. Their aim is to impart education to the children of the personnel of the Indian Armed Forces, i.e., the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force.

The Army Public Schools are also open for admission to the children of civilians but they give preference to the children of the Defense personnel. All the APS are affiliated to the CBSE and are managed by the regional commands of the army. Each of them has a senior Army Officer of the rank of Brigadier as its Chairman and one of the ranks of Major General as its Patron.

Like all other regions of India, Jammutoo has Army Public Schools which aim to provide high-class education to the children of the Armed Forces personnel that reside and/or work in the region. In fact, Jammu is one of those areas of the nation that houses a relatively higher number of armed forces personnel as compared to any other region of the country. Due to this, the number of Army Public Schools in Jammu is quite high.

All the APS here has a special NCC wing to train those who wish to join the same. The education provided here is of a good standard. But what these schools are famous for is the myriad sports and other extra-curricular facilities provided by them for the all-round development of their students. The annual functions and Republic Day as well as Independence Day celebrations organized by the students of these schools are a treat to watch.

Concept-based education finds utmost importance in the Army Public Schools of Jammu and their students deliver exceptionally good results especially in the Board exams of the region. Activities like Debates, Quizzes, Plays, and Sports Meets are also organized at regular intervals by them.
