JEE Main exam pattern

The exam is conducted in two phases: JEE Main Paper 1 and JEE Main Paper 2.

JEE Main - Paper 1 is meant for candidates seeking admission to B.E./B.Tech. programmes, and it is divided into three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Each section contains 25 questions, for a total of 75 questions. Paper 1 has a total of 300 marks. Each part contains 25 questions in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, including 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and 5 numerical value type questions.

JEE Main - Paper 2 is meant for candidates seeking admission to B.Arch., B.Planning, and B.F.Tech. programmes, and it is divided into three sections: Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test. The total mark allotment for Paper 2 differs depending on the chosen course, with 100 marks allotted for B.Arch. students and 50 marks designated for B.F.Tech. applicants.

The marking scheme for the Mathematics and Aptitude Tests changes, with +4 marks awarded for each correct MCQ response, -1 mark awarded for each wrong answer, and 0 marks awarded for unattempted MCQ questions.
