In 1990, the Union Territory Administration of Chandigarh provided a Government Sarai Building in Sector 32-A for the Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Catering, and Nutrition to be established.
The institute is one of 21 Central IHMs established by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, to train young men and women to meet the hospitality industry's manpower requirements.
