Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD), established in 1930. Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) is a multi-disciplinary educational, research and innovation complex with a well-developed infrastructure and modern material and technical base, which provides multilevel training of qualified specialists in various fields. This institution of higher education is a standard-bearer in training specialists for the fields of light and chemical industry, fashion industry, business, artistic and technical modelling and design of industrial products and their environments, arts, economics and consumer services, law etc. It is one of the oldest technological institutions of higher education in Ukraine. KNUTD has a number of unique scientific schools that carry out scientific and innovation activities and are recognized both in Ukraine and abroad.

Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design was founded on April 17, 1930 by order of the Supreme Council of National Economy № 1240 as the Institute of Leather Industry. This is officially, as the study of the sources of training specialists indicates that this date should be attributed to the beginning of the 19th century, when the professional training of craftsmen who produced goods from leather, fur, textiles in handicraft and cooperative methods began. That is, this topic is still waiting for more fundamental research.

Many prominent figures have graduated from the University: government officials and authorities of different levels, scientists, famous designers, successful executives and businessmen, specialists in various spheres of life. Currently, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design has the IVth level of accreditation (the certificate’ term is valid until 01.07.2023.).

The legal basis for providing educational services, related to the obtaining of higher education at the level of qualification requirements for Junior Specialist, Bachelor, Master, Doctor of Philosophy (including foreign citizens) by KNUTD is a licence of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. It has had the application as for the implementation of education activities in the field of higher education since 03.07.2018 and the certificate of accreditation RD-IV series №1124433 dated of June 5, 2013.

According to the CEOWORLD Magazine, the world's leading business and technology magazine, in 2021, KNUTD confirmed its affiliation with the TOP-100 Design World Universities and ranked the 60th place in the world.

By the rating of WEBOMETRICS, the University takes the 29th place among the institutions of higher education of Ukraine.

The University is one of the first Ukrainian institutions of higher education, which underwent independent external audits conducted by the National STANDARD Certification Center and QMSCERT International Certification Center in 2017. As the result it received certificates of conformity of the quality management system of educational activities with the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001: 2015, proving that the University has is a highly-qualified team of scientific, academic and administrative staff. The processes related to the provision of educational services are carried out at a high professional level; the regulatory tool has developed for the system of internal quality assurance of educational activity; the regulations and instructions are documented and communicated to the personnel, the effective means of control of the quality management system are used.

According to the science-based database "SCOPUS", by the number of citations by the world scientific community of university scientists’ publication and the Hirsch-index, KNUTD occupies the 38th rank.

According to the results of the consolidated rating of national universities "Osvita.ua", KNUTD has high positions and is one of the best ten universities in Ukraine by the rating "TOP-200 Ukraine" in the group of technical universities.

An important recognition of the international cooperation of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design is the membership in educational and profession European and World organizations, such as:

Magna Charta Universitatum (since 2018) - 891 institutions of higher education from 90 countries (in July 2018, were 27 077 universities functioning).
European Universities Association (EUA) (since 2005) – 861 members from 46 countries, European universities are involved in education and research, national associations of rectors and other organizations acting in higher education and science
Association of Universities for Textiles (AUTEX) (since 2005) - 32 members from 24 countries. These are universities with a well-established international reputation for providing higher education and research in the field of textiles
International Federation of Knit Technologists (IFKT) (since 2009) - 286 individual members and organizations from 22 countries. These are education institutions and industrial organizations in the field of knitting production
Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) (since 2011) - 600 organizations representing 250 consortia from 40 countries, including 27 European Union countries (9 members from Ukraine)
German-Ukrainian Society for Economics and Science, headed by the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Germany, Hans-Jürgen Doss, who was a deputy in Bundestag for 21 years. Its goal is to establish and strengthen links between scientists and industrialists, enterprises and organizations of two countries. This is done by finding partnerships between business associations, government, and non-government organizations of science and industry, holding conferences in both countries. Particular attention is paid to establishing contacts between entrepreneurs of small and medium-sized businesses, as well as encouraging students, politicians, and scholars.
Worldwide Network of research and education in the field of research and development of complex digital systems. The Complex Systems Digital Campus (CS-DC) is an international network of research and education institutions whose goal is to solve the scientific problems of complex research systems through the exchange of all necessary research and educational resources.
