About MIT College of Engineering

MAEER was the first step of the revolution in the education scenario of Maharashtra. Maharashtra, the third largest state in the country, with a rich heritage, known as the land of saints and also, the one which gave great leaders to the world had yet to progressed in the field of education.

This realization embarked the journey of MAEER – in 1983 with the establishment of Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), one of the first private engineering college in Maharashtra which still remains the flagship institute of the group.

With the sole objective of meeting the long felt need of a centre of scientific and educational research, which would meet the challenges of the present and the future technical advancements of the fast changing world, MIT Group of Institutions was established as a society and charitable trust. Since then, the MIT Group of Institutions have grown leaps and bounds and has made a strong impact in the field of education throughout the country. With more than 10 campuses in the state of Maharashtra covering almost 1000 acres of area, the MIT Group provides education in the fields of Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Marine Engineering, Insurance, Distance Education, Telecom Management, Lighting, Design, Food & Technology, Retail Management, Masters in Business Administration, School of Government and also School Education. At any given point of time, more than 50000 students are pursuing various courses all over our 65+ institutes. With this statistics, the MIT Group is almost a big University by itself.

An initial step taken by a great visionary

Dr. Vishwanath Karad, who nurtured a strong conviction to provide the best of education to the society today has resulted in a strong educational realm. MIT Group today boasts of the best infrastructure facilities and application of varied teaching methodologies. With highly qualified and dedicated teachers, the group has grown leaps and bounds and will continue to do so looking for both horizontal and vertical growth patterns. Presently, we have more than 4000 teaching staff and almost more than 6000 non teaching staff.

Most of our institutes are affiliated to the University of Pune as of now, but, as per the recent changes in the Government Regulations, we have applied for a University status and very soon, MIT Group of Institutions will be a full fledged University.

It is worth mentioning that in appreciation of the work carried out by MAEER’s MIT, Pune under the banner of World Peace Centre in championing the cause of promoting the Value Based Universal Education System for spreading the message of peace in the society, based on the appropriate blending of science, technology and spirituality, UNESCO, Paris bestowed the World Peace Centre, MAEER’s MIT, Pune, India with an UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Democracy, Peace and Tolerance on 12th May 1998.

MIT Group believes in developing the overall personality of its students in order to create future responsible global citizens. Hence, imparting training is done based on the five principles of the MIT’s holistic development policy –

MIT has traversed the path of rapid development in education, along with the nation, often responding positively to changed needs and at times initiating significant changes. We have evolved in twenty-six years by overcoming tough hurdles set more by limitations of thinking in that era, rather than lack of ability, to arrive at a point where we can explore the vastness of knowledge and possibilities on the global canvas. At MAEER’s MIT, it’s never about which of our institutes you choose to study in, it is more about how and where you reach in life thereafter.

Established in 2001, MITCOE has come to be known as the destination of choice for most aspiring engineers, not only from Maharashtra, but also from the rest of India.

MITCOE has evolved into a technology savvy mentor of engineers. The vision for the 21st Century and the pragmatism shown by the management to turn that into a reality are palpable at every step, the moment you step into MITCOE campus.

MITCOE the college is situated in a serene part of the spectacular yet quiet MIT Campus at Kothrud, Pune, India. Our teaching-learning methodology is highly participative and interactive. We encourage students to be team players, rather than mute receivers in the knowledge building process. Their opinion is often taken into account in many academic and other matters without compromising the institute discipline. For this, we have put in place a number of systems and appropriate controls to ensure their positive implementation.

Healthy competition among the students is another tool that is used widely to let students excel themselves and to identify leaders from among them. Involvement of industry professionals in the development of students is another area where our college is focusing with considerable success. We recognize that merely imparting the chalked out syllabi education will make MITCOE just another college.

We therefore ensure constant intellectual challenges by taking up in-house and industry based Research Projects in many leading cutting edge technologies of relevance. Further grooming of students takes place with a number of co-curricular programs including soft-skill developments, additional technical skills with the participation of renowned professionals from industry and business. Finally to make them complete individuals, extra-curricular activities such as sports and culture are encouraged.

All this to ensure that our students are among the best placed professionals in the industry, the best contributors to the society, practicing the best of human values.

We are among a few institutes, who are ISO certified. MITCOE got ISO certificate from American Quality Assessors (AQA) a prestigious body especially in Europe & USA.

For continual improvement, we carry out two Internal Audits of all of our processes like teaching learning, laboratory management, library management annually which and followed by Management Review Meetings and AQA Surveillance audits every year. At MITCOE you will find that we are not just flaw less but also have a working environment of International standards.
