CLAT WHAT IS CLAT?

Common Law Admission Test, popularly knows as the CLAT is an all India level entrance exam test conducted by the 19 National Law Universities (NLUs)on the rotational basis as per their establishment. This is one of the most popular law entrance exam tests held annually for the admission to the various undergraduate (5-year course) and postgraduate (1-year course) law courses after class 12th. The exam is conducted only through the online mode.


The CLAT exam is conducted on the second Sunday of May each year. Applicants clearing CLAT can utilize their scores for admission in different private and government law colleges all over India. To get the admission in various law courses like BSW LLB (Hons), BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), BSC LLB (Hons), LLB programs, BCom LLB (Hons) in the private and government colleges candidates need to clear CLAT entrance exam.

To get admission in the LLB and LLM programs, the CLAT core committee has defined some of the eligibility criteria which are mentioned below:

They need to show the passing qualification exam hard copy at the time of admission.

CLAT CLAT APPLICATION PROCESS

The CLAT is the national level online mode entrance exam to get the admission in various law courses at 18 NLUs in India. Thus, it is important to fill the CLAT Application Form correctly.


Step 1 : Registration at CAPS: The aspirants need to register themselves via CLAT Application Processing System (CAPS) by entering their name, date of birth, father & mother’s name, valid mobile number and active email id. Fill the detail carefully as it cannot be changed later on. After the successful registration User ID and Password will be sent to the registered mail id and mobile number.


Step 2 : FILL CLAT APPLICATION FORM: Login using the CAPS login credentials, click on the “Already registered Users” tab and fill the CLAT admission form correctly by providing the necessary personal details, postal address, CLAT exam center preference.


Step 3 : UPLOAD: Upload your scanned photograph and signature as per the given dimensions on the official CLAT website. Also upload your birth certificate, 10th class certificate, passport or Aadhar card, caste certificate, PWD certificate/state domicile (if required)


Step 4 : PAYMENT: Finally, pay the application fees via Net banking, credit/debit card or through the bank Challan.

CLAT CLAT EXAM CENTERS

The CLAT exam is expected to be in 175 centers across the country. With the wide range of the CLAT exam centers, candidates can choose their city for taking the CLAT exam. The candidates are required to fill the examination center carefully as it cannot be changed later on.


Some of the major CLAT exam center cities include Delhi, Faridabad, Chandigarh, Banglore, Jaipur, Kolkatta, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Noida, Shimla, Varanasi, Ranchi, Indore, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Vishakapatanam. The national law entrance test will be about two hours. The CLAT EXAM pattern for the UG and PG courses are given below :


FOR THE UG COURSE


Method of Examination : Online

Number of Sections : In LLB-5 Sections

Nature of Questions : Objective type (MCQs)

Total Number of Questions : 200 Questions in LLB and

Marking Scheme : 1 mark of each question

Negative Marking : 0.25 marks deducted for a wrong answer


Exam Pattern for LLB

The exam consists of 5 segments. The section wise distribution of the CLAT LLB exam is mentioned below:

CLAT CLAT EXAM SYLLABUS

The syllabus for the CLAT 2018 for the U.G course entrance test is as follows:

 

ENGLISH INCLUDING COMPREHENSION

This section tests the English of the students, including the comprehension and the grammar. The comprehension section evaluates the students on the basis of their understanding of the passage, the meaning of the words, the central theme, etc.. The grammar section includes the sentence correction, fill in the blanks, etc..


GENERAL KNOWLEDGE AND CURRENT AFFAIRS

The general awareness and the current knowledge of the student is evaluated. Candidates need to update with the current news and affairs.


MATHEMATICS

This section tests the elementary knowledge of the candidate, i.e. mathematics taught up to class 10th.


LEGAL APTITUDE

This section tests the candidate’s interest in the law, research aptitude, and the problem-solving ability.


LOGICAL REASONING

This section evaluates the logical ability of the candidate to identify patterns, logical links, syllogism, logical sequence, analogies, etc..
