Assam Medical College (AMC), Dibrugarh was established in 1947.The institute occupied a unique position in the history of North-East India. The college was formerly known as Berry White Medical School, named after the great visionary of modern medical education in Assam. Being the oldest hospital of the North-East region it caters to the need of about lakhs of patient per annum. The outward face of Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh is changing – a change for the better- it is hoped.
Old buildings crumble to give way to new ones but the ideals that had taken the college to its pinnacle of glory remain the same. Renovation, rebuilding and infrastructure development is a must in this ever-changing and ever- advancing field of medical science.
