J.K.K Nattraja Educational institutions founded byThiru (late) J.K.K.NATARAJAH in the year of 1987, the noted industrialist, educationalist and philanthropist, and visionary, is located in a remote rural backward area with a mission to serve the people in the region ofKumarapalayamand neighboring districts with dental health facilities with special focus on rural community. While the College admission policy reflects provisions for underprivileged sections and access to all, the College performance reveals its commitment to quality. In order to achieve the objective of equipping the students with value based and globally comparable skills, the curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are geared up to the fulfilment of goals and objectives. There is a shift from focusing on mere teaching to an emphasis on active learning through technology mediated methods.
As an affiliated college of Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R Medical University of Health Sciences and recognized by Dental Council of India (DCI),JKKNDCH complies with the curricular requirements of both these regulatory bodies. However it has also introduced several innovations to the curriculum that helps in the overall development of the students.
Institution is located on a campus of adequate acres with lush green lawns, flowering plants and gardens providing rightambianceand pollution free environment. Besides theDental College facilities, there is a well-equipped super specialty teaching hospital in the campus used also by the dental college. The Institution has a well maintained library including digital facilities, central computercenter, auditoriums, hostels, staff quarters, sports andgames facilities-all within the campus. The Institution provides opportunities and experiences to the students to facilitate their progression.
In order to make the Institution responsive to the aims and objectives, all the departments of the college and the office are governed on the principles of participation and transparency, making the academic and administrative planning goes hand in hand. The Principal heads the administrative set up, ably assisted by the staff Council, Head of the Departments, and various Committees. The College works as a single unit with mutual cooperation of all its constituents and stake holders. The Alumni association which is just two years old is yet to come out in a big way in associating with the institutional activities.
Community orientation program is another unique program for students at JKKNDCH, a primary health care center where in students stay for 15 days and engage in dental health program as per theme per year while involved in community service. Patient Safety curriculum is another module that has been developed by the developed by the Faculty in association with Quality Assurance Unit based on WHO guidelines for students regarding infection control, instrument and surgical safety and medical and communication errors. Our faculty members are also member of Board of studies of both UG and PG studies part of any such workshops thus contribute to and thus influence the various curricular changes of the university with regard to Teaching Learning and Assessment.
