Jogamaya Devi College was established in 1932 by Late Shyamaprasad Mukherjee as the women’s section of Asutosh College, with only 155 students enrolled for the I.A. course. It began its existence as a separate establishment in 1957 when it was delinked from Asutosh College and was affiliated to Calcutta University as Asutosh College for Women in 1958. The college was renamed Jogamaya Devi College after the demise of Lady Jogamaya Devi, wife of Sir Asutosh Mukherjee.
Would you recommend this college?
Yes, I would recommend Jogomaya Devi College for Girls. For students who are more hell-bent on academics than on extravagant events and extra-curriculat activities, this college is best suited.
Nice College for Studious people
This particular college offers cooperative teachers. The overall faculty, however, isn't that good. Students are not timely and properly informed about class timings. One has to gather information from a group of students to whom the orders are directed and ceased at that very spectrum. Creating a official whatsapp group with all students of a particular section for conveying valid information, wouldn't hurt the HOD. The teachers or professors, rather, are very helpful when teaching in class.
