Surajmal Memorial Education Society was founded in 1972 at Janakpuri to emulate the great qualities of Maharaja Surajmal with an aim to impart quality education in rural as well as urban areas. Academic Programmes were started with the introduction of certificate and Diploma courses in various technical streams in 1982. Maharaja Surajmal Institue of Technology was estalblished in 2001 with the approval of AICTE and is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in Delhi for Providing B.Tech Degree since 2000-01.

This AICTE approved Institute under GGSIP University is ideally located in the Institutional area of  Janakpuri, New Delhi. It has a campus spread over eight acres of land with beautiful eco-friendly surroundings. Institute was earlier operating from four storey building of 6279 sq.m of built up area. Recently it has been shifted to a more spacious seven storeyed building with built up area of 9660 sq.m The institute has over a short span of time acquired and developed impressive infrastructure, expertise and resources for imparting high quality engineering education. The institute runs in two shifts - First/Morning shift and Second/Evening shift providing Bachelor of Technology in CSE, IT, ECE and EEE streams.

Academic Programs & Admission

The institute primarily offers four-year B.Tech programs in the following specialisations: 

• Computer Science and Engineering (CSE): Most competitive branch with 180-240 seats.
• Information Technology (IT): Offers 120 seats.
• Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE): High intake branch with 120 seats.
• Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE): Known for technical depth, offering 120 seats.

Admission Process (2026 Assumption):

• Entrance Exam: Admission is primarily based on JEE Main scores followed by IPU CET counselling.
• Eligibility: A minimum of 55% aggregate in 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, and one other science subject is required.
• Direct Admission: A limited number of seats are available through management quota based on academic performance and higher fees.

Campus & Infrastructure

• Location: C-4 Market, Janakpuri, New Delhi. It is well-connected by the Delhi Metro.
• Facilities: The 8-acre eco-friendly campus includes fully air-conditioned classrooms (in new buildings), smart boards, and advanced laboratories for AI, ML, and IoT.
• Hostels: Separate residential facilities for boys and girls are available, accommodating roughly 250 students.
