About NITTE University
NITTE, officially NITTE (Deemed to be University), is an institute of higher education located in Derlakatte, Mangalore, India. It is formed under the Trust of NIITE, a trust sponsored by Nitte Education Trust[1] which has established 31 institutions spread in three campuses at Nitte, Mangalore and Bangalore. The Government of India conferred the status of Deemed-to-be University in June 2008. The institution has been accredited with 'A+' grade by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC).
NITTE (Deemed to be University) is proactively involved in water conservation mission. It has adopted environmentally friendly methods for water conservation and optimum utilization of water. Recycled water is used for maintaining the lush green landscape all-round the year. Rain water harvesting is adopted in all three Campuses of the University. Utilisation of open wells and water bodies for rainwater harvesting is practiced. Open wells are the preferred source of water in place of borewells. Its policies and strategies are focused on protection, conservation and sustainable use of its precious freshwater resources.
Nitte University has established a research centre, Nitte University Centre for Science Education and Research (NUCSER). Biomedical Science is an interdisciplinary science that involves the study of human health and disease. Biomedical scientists are trained in various disciplines to gain an understanding of how the human body is organized (anatomy), how the various organs and cells function (physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology), what are the structural and chemical changes taking place in human system in various diseases (pathology and clinical biochemistry), various causative agents of diseases (microbiology, non-communicable diseases, cancer biology), diagnosis (clinical pathology, microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology) chemotherapeutic agents used in the treatment of diseases (pharmacology) and instrumentation (biophysics). Graduates and postgraduates in biomedical sciences are in great demand by the health care industry and play a role in diagnostic services, biomedical instrumentation, drug development, biotechnological industry, pharmaceutical industry contributing to development of new diagnostics or therapeutic agents and providing regulatory services.

NITTE UNIVERSITY - INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS
NITTE (Deemed to be University) has developed international collaborations withover 20 Universities and Institutes across the globe. These collaborations have led to development of joint research projects funded through International Cooperation Division of Department of Science and Technology (eg. Indo-Norway, Indo-Belgium) or though funding agencies in partner countries (eg. Swedish International Development Agency, National Environmental Research Council of UK). The collaborations have lead to joint publications, joint international workshops, exchange of faculty and students at doctoral or postdoctoral level. Some of the international collaborations are specifically focused on faculty and student exchange eg. University of Minnesota, USA for exchange of students in public health; Universite Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France for exchange of medical and dental students; Wake Forest University, USA for exchange of students in the area of Medical Microbiology; Miyazaki University, Japan for exchange of faculty and students in medical, dental, pharmacy, nursing and biomedical areas through Sakura programme; University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines for exchange of students in Physiotherapy; Ulster University, UK for exchange of nursing students and faculty.

NITTE UNIVERSITY - PLACEMENT CELL
A vibrant and dedicated Placement Cell is an integral part of any institution engaged in higher education. It stands as a bridge between the Institution and the Prospective employer – The Industry. A common complaint of most of the employers is that the young graduates though are reasonably good in academic and technical skills (intellectual skills), seriously lack emotional maturity. While it is quite obvious that the employers expect graduates to possess technical competencies in their chosen disciplines of study, they more seriously evaluate graduates in terms of discipline and expect them to demonstrate a range of broader skills and attributes that include excellent team-work, effective communication, leadership, critical thinking, problem solving and managerial abilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:
The Placement Department ensures students get placed in reputed companies by:-
- Organising “finishing school programme” which addresses crucial job fitment areas such as Resume preparation, mock interviews, group discussions, aptitude tests, IQ & personality development.
- Arranging guest lectures and workshops, industrial visits, and internship for students from engineering and management streams and work shadowing opportunities like compulsory rotatory internship or house surgeon-ship, rural posting etc., for medical, dental and paramedical students. This is critical for both intellectual and emotional development of the students and to help them tune into the frequency desired at workplace to perform at optimal levels right from day one of employment.
