St. Ann’s college for women came into being in 1983 with 2 undergraduate courses and 106 students. Today it has emerged as an institution of excellence, enshrining its ideal “Light of Life”. The appeal of the college cuts across social, financial, cultural and linguistic barriers. Being a missionary college, the effort is to foster a rich campus culture, reinforcing the need fro an ethical component, integrity and social concern, which in addition to academic excellence and skill enhancement, constitutes the whole educational experience Committed as it is to the highest ideals of higher education with its vision of academic excellence, skill enhancement and value enrichment, quality consciousness has permeated into every aspect of the institution’s functioning.

 The college offered itself for assessment by NAAC in the year 2006 and 2013. The concerted efforts towards quality goals culminated in the award of ‘A’ grade. Further recognition as a ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ by UGC in 2010 and 2014.

 The college continues to grow in quality, impact and reach. In the wake of the information explosion, the changing times require that we continually expand and evaluate our academic aspirations. The institution continues to maintain its dedication to excellent teaching while promoting research activities and reaching out to the community. The college strives to maintain an environment which encourages all employees to upgrade their personal and professional goals and aspirations as we work towards achieving the mission of the college. At present, the college has a strength of over 2800 students and 120 well qualified staff members, belonging to as many as 28 different departments. The faculty at St.Ann’s, is the most valuable resource that brings along an incomparable set of skills and knowledge.
