ST. XAVIER'S COLLEGE is a graduate and undergraduate college located in Kolkata, affiliated to University of Calcutta. It was founded in 1860 and named after St. Francis Xavier, a Jesuit saint of the 16th century, who travelled to India. It became the first autonomous college in West Bengal and hence it is permitted to formulate its own syllabus, establish its own evaluation system, i.e. conduct exams and publish the results but the Degree Certificates will be issued by the University.

• SXC is a multi-faculty college offering UG and PG courses consisting of Science, Commerce, Arts, Education and Business Administration faculties
• The college made its first ever foreign collaboration in 2008 and entered into a tie-up with the University of Manitoba, Canada
