About Bukovinian State Medical University

Bukovinian State Medical University is one of the largest higher educational establishment in 1944. BSMU is one of the largest institutions of higher education in Chernivtsi, which in 2019 celebrated its 75th anniversary. It is a highly rated institution of higher medical education of the European type with the ideology of advanced innovative development on the basis of harmonious and partnership relations between scientific and pedagogical workers, students and society.

The University is included in the general register of the World Health Organization, is a member of the Grand Charter of Universities and the Association of Universities of the Carpathian Region. BSMU became the first institution of higher medical education in Ukraine as an individual full member of the European University Association (EUA), which satisfied the university to participate in important projects in the field of higher education, unique training programs for higher education management, as well as to get acquainted with best practices of European higher education institutions.

The university has 49 departments consisting of 6 faculties (four medical, dental, pharmaceutical), educational and scientific institute of postgraduate education and a college.

During the years of the institution's activity in Bukovyna (1944-2019) about 26 thousand specialists were trained, including about 20,000 general practitioners, 1,800 pediatricians, 400 dentists, more than 400 clinical pharmacists, 150 pharmacists, 200 medical psychologists, 270 bachelors of pharmacy, 1000 pharmacists, 1,500 nurses, 170 laboratory assistants. Among the graduates are about 1,000 doctors - foreign nationals from 60 countries.

Formation and development of BSMU are connected with the names of famous scientists and organizers. BSMU graduates successfully realize themselves in medical, pharmaceutical, economic, educational, scientific, social and cultural spheres of activity. BSMU is proud of its graduates, many of whom have reached significant heights in professional and public life. Among our graduates there are many famous artists, statesmen and public figures: Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine VG Bedny, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Ecology and Hygiene. LI Medvedya Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine MG Prodanchuk, Director of the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine Corresponding Member GV Gaiko, Director of the Kolomiychenko Institute of Otolaryngology Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine DI .Zabolotny, academicians of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine DD Zerbino and YPSpizhenko. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, Professor GI Khodorovsky, was elected a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during 1992-1999. worked as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to India. Two pupils of the educational institution became laureates of the State Prize named after Taras Shevchenko: outstanding Ukrainian poet, People's Artist of Ukraine Mykhailo Tkach, outstanding composer, Hero of Ukraine Volodymyr Ivasyuk.

The range of educational services related to higher education In accordance with the Law of Ukraine on Higher Education, the university ensures the continuity and continuity of higher education at all five levels:

third (educational and scientific) level
scientific level

Obtaining higher education at the university at each level involves the successful implementation of the student, the relevant educational-professional or educational-scientific program, and is the basis for awarding a degree or educational qualification level of higher education: junior bachelor, bachelor, specialist, master, doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Sciences.

II. Postgraduate training of specialists with higher medical and pharmaceutical education is carried out:

in an internship (primary specialization) on the basis of the educational and scientific institute of postgraduate education in 25 specialties
2,500 doctors and pharmacists annually on the basis of the educational and scientific institute of postgraduate education have the opportunity to improve their professional skills, undergo internships, retraining and specialization

III. Training of scientific and pedagogical workers is carried out in 5 specialties (27 specializations) in postgraduate studies and in 6 specialties in doctoral studies.

IV. Preparation of domestic and foreign citizens for admission to higher educational institutions of Ukraine
