Scholarship / Free-ship Policy of MRIIRS

Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) offers various scholarships and freeships to encourage academic excellence and consistent student performance. Under the university's scholarship policy, eligible students can receive tuition-fee waivers based on academic merit, entrance-examination performance, sports achievements, innovation, research, patents, special categories and other criteria.

The university states that more than 5 crore has been awarded through various scholarship schemes during the last three years.


1. MRNAT Scholarships – Utkarsh and Uttam Schemes

MRIIRS offers the Utkarsh and Uttam scholarship schemes for candidates seeking admission to UG and PG programmes on the basis of their MRNAT score.

Utkarsh Scheme

·        90% and above: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        80% to below 90%: 50% tuition-fee waiver

·        70% to below 80%: 25% tuition-fee waiver

Uttam Scheme

·        90% and above: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        80% to below 90%: 25% tuition-fee waiver

·        70% to below 80%: 15% tuition-fee waiver

The scholarship is linked to both the MRNAT score and the applicable admission period.


2. UG Scholarships Based on Qualifying Examination

For UG programmes except BDS, MRIIRS provides scholarships/freeships based on marks or CGPA obtained in the qualifying examination.

·        95% and above: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        90% to 94.99%: 50% tuition-fee waiver

·        86% to 89.99%: 25% tuition-fee waiver

·        80% to 85.99%: 15% tuition-fee waiver

3. B.Tech Scholarships Based on JEE Main/Advanced

Students seeking admission to B.Tech/Engineering programmes can receive scholarships based on their JEE Main/Advanced Overall All India Rank.

·        Rank up to 50,000: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        Rank 50,001–1,00,000: 50% tuition-fee waiver

·        Rank 1,00,001–1,50,000: 25% tuition-fee waiver


4. BDS Scholarship Based on NEET

For admission to the BDS programme, MRIIRS provides scholarships based on the student's NEET score/marks.

·        NEET score 551 and above: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        NEET score 500–550: 50% tuition-fee waiver


5. UG Scholarships Based on SAT

Students seeking admission to eligible UG programmes can receive scholarships based on their SAT score.

·        1301 and above: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        1201–1300: 50% tuition-fee waiver

·        1101–1200: 25% tuition-fee waiver


6. UG Scholarships Based on CUET

MRIIRS also offers scholarships based on CUET performance.

·        100 percentile in at least 3 major subjects: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        100 percentile in at least 2 major subjects: 50% tuition-fee waiver

The candidate must have secured at least 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.

A candidate can avail either the merit-based scholarship, based on the qualifying/competitive examination, or the CUET scholarship.


7. PG Scholarships

For PG programmes other than MDS, scholarships are offered according to marks/score.

·        85% and above: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        80%–84.99%: 50% tuition-fee waiver

·        75%–79.99%: 25% tuition-fee waiver

·        70%–74.99%: 15% tuition-fee waiver


8. MBA Scholarships Based on CAT

MBA applicants can receive scholarships based on their CAT score/marks.

·        80% and above: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        75%–79.99%: 50% tuition-fee waiver

·        70%–74.99%: 25% tuition-fee waiver


9. MBA Scholarships Based on MAT/CMAT/ATMA

For the 2026 admission session, MBA scholarships are also available based on MAT, CMAT or ATMA performance.

·        95% and above: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        90%–94.99%: 50% tuition-fee waiver

·        85%–89.99%: 25% tuition-fee waiver

MRIIRS also states that PG students may be associated with faculty members for proper grooming and mentorship and may assist faculty members with UG students when required.


10. B.Des Scholarships Based on NIFT

Students seeking admission to the B.Design programme can receive scholarships according to their NIFT rank.

·        Rank 1–3,500: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        Rank 3,500–6,500: 50% tuition-fee waiver

·        Rank 6,500–8,000: 25% tuition-fee waiver


11. B.Des Scholarships Based on UCEED

Scholarships based on UCEED rank are:

·        Rank 1–1,000: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        Rank 1,000–2,500: 50% tuition-fee waiver

·        Rank 2,500–4,000: 25% tuition-fee waiver


12. B.Des Scholarships Based on NID

Scholarships based on NID rank are:

·        Rank 1–600: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        Rank 600–1,500: 50% tuition-fee waiver

·        Rank 1,500–2,500: 25% tuition-fee waiver


13. Scholarships for Outstanding Sports Achievers

MRIIRS provides scholarships for outstanding sports achievements at different levels.

Applicants seeking admission under sports categories must provide relevant documents proving participation and/or medals won. The Sports Committee under the Director of Sports takes the final decision regarding the scholarship.

The scholarship is initially awarded for the first semester, while its continuation is decided by a committee constituted by the competent authority of the institution/university.


14. Teaching Assistantship for M.Tech and MPT

MRIIRS provides a Teaching Assistantship provision for eligible candidates enrolled in M.Tech and MPT programmes.

Selected candidates who have secured more than 70% overall marks or 7.00 CGPA in the qualifying examination may receive teaching assistantship based on the recommendation of a committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor.

Selected candidates may work with professors/associate professors in practical and tutorial classes for approximately 8–10 periods per week.

The stipend is INR 10,000 per month, with payment limited to a maximum of 12 months during the complete duration of the M.Tech/MPT programme.

For continuation, the student must:

·        Maintain a minimum SGPA of 7.5 in each semester without backlog.

·        Maintain 85% attendance in all courses in each semester.

·        Not have been suspended for a serious act of indiscipline.

·        Have no established or pending disciplinary action relating to ragging or eve-teasing.

·        Not receive another scholarship from any other source.

·        Submit the required declaration/certificate signed by the student and parents regarding other scholarships.


15. Scholarship for Wards of MREI Employees

MRIIRS provides a 25% tuition-fee waiver, limited to a maximum of INR 25,000 per year, to the first child of an MREI employee.

If the first child is already receiving a merit-based scholarship, the benefit may be passed to the second child, where applicable.


16. Scholarship for Siblings of Manav Rachna Students

A sibling (brother/sister) of a student already enrolled in any programme at an HEI of MREI may receive a 10% tuition-fee waiver, limited to a maximum of INR 5,000, available only once at the time of admission.

The benefit is applicable to the elder sibling as specified by the university.

Students who are alumni of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions, including schools or higher education institutions, are eligible for a 10% tuition-fee waiver, limited to a maximum of INR 25,000 per year, when taking admission to programmes offered by an HEI.

A BDS student of MRIIRS taking admission to MDS at MRIIRS is eligible for a 5% one-time tuition-fee waiver.


17. Scholarship for Only Girl Child Candidates

Only-girl-child candidates may receive a 10% tuition-fee waiver, limited to a maximum of INR 5,000, available once at the time of admission for UG and PG programmes.

The candidate must have secured at least 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.

A BDS student of MRIIRS taking admission to MDS at MRIIRS is eligible for a 5% one-time tuition-fee waiver.

The scholarship page also lists provisions of:

·        25% waiver on the first installment of tuition fee

·        Reserved seat up to 45 days after declaration of results

·        Hostel seat reservation up to 30 days after declaration of results


18. Armed Forces Scholarship

For wards of current service holders, the required documents include:

·        A bonafide letter proving the current posting of the service holder.

·        A copy of the soldier's book.

·        Proof of relationship, wherever applicable.

For scholarship/tuition-fee waiver calculations, marks are not rounded up to the next higher figure. Percentage is calculated on the basis of the eligibility subjects in the qualifying examination.

For continuation, the university's scholarship policy applies from the second semester.


19. Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship for Haryana Candidates

MRIIRS offers a merit-cum-means scholarship to candidates admitted under the reservation category for Haryana candidates.

The scheme applies to UG and PG programmes and is available to students whose parents have an annual income of up to INR 2.80 lakh from all sources.

The tuition-fee concession is distributed as follows:

·        One-fifth of the eligible 25% quota receives 100% tuition-fee concession.

·        Two-fifths receives 50% tuition-fee concession.

·        The remaining two-fifths receives 25% tuition-fee concession.

Students are required to pay other applicable programme fees.


20. One Scholarship Scheme Rule

A candidate can avail scholarship/freeship under only one scheme, whichever is higher, subject to the availability of scholarship seats.

The university also specifies that marks are not rounded off for scholarship/tuition-fee waiver calculations.


21. Merit Scholarship for Semester/Branch Toppers

MRIIRS offers merit scholarships to students securing the first, second and third positions in the odd and even semester examinations, based on amalgamated SGPA/CGPA.

The scholarship amounts are:

·        First Position: INR 15,000

·        Second Position: INR 10,000

·        Third Position: INR 7,500

Eligibility Guidelines

·        A programme with 90 or more students appearing in the semester examination qualifies for first, second and third position scholarships.

·        A programme with more than 50 but fewer than 90 students qualifies for first and second position scholarships.

·        Where the course strength is 10 or fewer, no scholarship is awarded for that course.

The university's policy determines the applicable scholarship based on programme strength and position.


22. Scholarships for Innovation, Publications and Patents

MRIIRS provides scholarship provisions for outstanding achievements in research, innovation, prototype development and national/international competitions.

Eligible achievement categories include:

·        Startup registration after receiving a grant from government/private funding organisations

·        Winner of competitions for innovative projects

·        Patent granted

·        Patent published

·        Patent filed

·        Research publications

The scholarship under this category is awarded in the first semester. Its continuation is decided by a committee constituted by the competent authority of the institution/university.


23. B.A. Political Science with Civil Services Preparation Scholarship

MRIIRS offers tuition-fee scholarships to the top five students admitted to the B.A. Political Science with Civil Services Preparation programme.

The scholarship structure is:

·        Rank 1 / Topper: 100% tuition-fee waiver

·        Rank 2 and Rank 3: 50% tuition-fee waiver each

·        Rank 4 and Rank 5: 25% tuition-fee waiver each

Ranking is determined solely through a cumulative assessment of the percentage obtained in the qualifying examination and an aptitude test conducted by the university.

No other existing scholarship, concession or financial-aid scheme is applicable with this scholarship.


24. Continuation of Scholarship

The progress of students receiving scholarships is reviewed annually.

For continuation, the student must:

·        Secure a minimum CGPA of 8.5 or the highest percentile of the class at the end of each academic year.

·        Maintain 85% attendance in all courses in every semester.

·        Have no active disciplinary proceedings and maintain satisfactory conduct according to university regulations.

·        Have no backlogs or reappearances in any semester.

·        Register for and complete the prescribed academic load for the relevant year.

Important Scholarship Conditions

Students should carefully check the applicable scholarship scheme before admission because eligibility and continuation conditions vary according to the programme and scholarship category.

The MRIIRS policy indicates that:

1.        Scholarship benefits are generally provided as tuition-fee waivers unless specifically stated otherwise.

2.        Scholarship seats are subject to availability.

3.        A candidate can normally avail only one scholarship/freeship scheme, with the higher applicable benefit considered.

4.        Scholarship continuation is subject to the relevant academic, attendance and disciplinary requirements.

5.        The university may require documentary proof for special-category scholarships.

6.        For certain scholarships, the scholarship is initially applicable for the first semester and continuation is reviewed by the competent committee.

7.        Other fees applicable to a programme may remain payable even when a tuition-fee waiver is granted.
