UPES University Scholarships

UPES offers a range of scholarships, fellowships and financial-support opportunities to help meritorious, deserving and eligible students manage the cost of higher education. UPES has introduced scholarship opportunities based on board examination performance, national-level entrance examinations, academic performance, domicile status, sports achievements, financial need and other eligibility categories. The university states that it awarded INR 46 crore in scholarships to 6,844 students during.

Entry-Level Scholarship for UG & Integrated Programmes

UPES provides merit-based scholarships for eligible students enrolling in undergraduate and integrated programmes. Scholarships are determined on the basis of the student's overall Class 12 marks.

Students scoring 95.01% or above in Class 12 can receive a 30% scholarship on tuition fees. Students with 90.01%–95% marks may receive 25%, while those scoring 85.01%–90% can receive 20%. A 15% scholarship is available for students scoring 75%–85%, and a 10% scholarship is available for students scoring 60%–74.99%, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

National-Level Examination Scholarships

UPES also offers scholarships based on scores in selected national-level entrance examinations. For eligible undergraduate applicants, scholarships can be considered on the basis of JEE Main percentile, CUET-UG percentile and CLAT All India Rank for five-year LLB programmes.

Students with a JEE Main percentile or CUET-UG percentile of 95.01 or above, or a CLAT General AIR between 1 and 500, may be eligible for a 100% scholarship. A 40% scholarship is available for JEE/CUET scores in the 90.01–95 range or CLAT AIR 501–1000, while a 25% scholarship may be available for JEE/CUET scores between 85.01–90 or CLAT AIR 1001–1500.

These scholarships are applicable to eligible regular UG programmes and are subject to the university's admission and scholarship conditions. The scholarship is generally applicable to the first-year tuition fee, and students must complete the required formalities within the prescribed timeline.

UPES MBA Scholarship

MBA applicants can also benefit from merit and entrance-examination-based scholarships. Students with at least 80% marks in graduation or an NMAT score above 200 may be eligible for a 20% scholarship on first-year tuition fees.

Candidates securing 80–89.99 percentile in CAT may receive a 20% scholarship, while those achieving 90–94.99 percentile may receive 30%. Candidates with a CAT percentile of 95 or above may be eligible for a 50% scholarship.

For the MBA Core programme, an additional scholarship of 30% on tuition fees is available to eligible candidates with more than 60% marks in graduation, subject to the applicable conditions.

UPES Domicile Scholarship

UPES provides a domicile scholarship for eligible students from Uttarakhand. 25% of seats are reserved for Uttarakhand domicile students taking admission under the applicable provisions. Eligible students can receive a 25% scholarship on tuition fees per semester.

Students must submit a valid Uttarakhand domicile certificate or applicable permanent-residence certificate at the time of admission.

Jyoti Scholarship – Merit-cum-Need Based Freeship

The Jyoti Scholarship is designed to support meritorious students from underprivileged backgrounds. Under this scheme, UPES provides a 100% scholarship on semester fees, including applicable fee components except the security deposit, to selected students who meet the prescribed merit and financial-need criteria.

The scheme provides a limited number of seats for regular programmes. Applicants generally need at least 80% marks in Classes 10 and 12, and the prescribed family-income criteria must also be satisfied.

Applicants are required to submit appropriate financial and academic documents, such as income certificates/ITR, Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and other documents specified by the university. The freeship is initially awarded for one year and its continuation is subject to the university's renewal conditions.

Vijay Scholarship for Sports

UPES encourages students with strong sporting achievements through its Vijay Scholarship. Eligible sportspersons representing India at international level may receive scholarships of up to 100% of tuition fees.

The scholarship structure includes 100% for international-level medal winners, 75% for international-level participants, 50% for eligible national-level medal winners and 35% for eligible national-level participants.

The scholarship is available for selected sports, including football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, shooting, chess, athletics, boxing, wrestling and archery. Selection may involve fitness and skill tests, document verification and an interview with the scholarship committee.

Fellowships for M.Tech and M.Des Programmes

UPES offers fellowship opportunities for eligible postgraduate students in selected programmes.

For M.Tech students, candidates with a valid GATE score of 75 percentile or above may be considered for a fellowship of up to INR 12,400 per month. Eligible students may also receive a research grant of up to INR 50,000 for outcome-based research, subject to university rules.

For M.Des students, a teaching assistantship of up to INR 3,000 per month is available to eligible students.

Students receiving such assistance must meet the prescribed academic, attendance and conduct requirements.

Academic Performance Scholarship

UPES also rewards students for maintaining strong academic performance during their studies. From the second year onwards, eligible students can receive scholarships based on their academic merit.

The first-ranked eligible student can receive a 20% tuition-fee scholarship, the second-ranked student can receive 15%, while other eligible students selected under the scheme can receive 10%.

The minimum qualifying CGPA is 8.5, and students must meet the university's requirements regarding academic performance, attendance and supplementary examinations.

UPES Alumni Scholarship

UPES provides scholarships to eligible alumni who return to pursue further education at the university. Eligible alumni can receive a 50% tuition-fee waiver for the full duration of regular postgraduate programmes. A 50% fee waiver is also available for eligible alumni enrolling in part-time PhD programmes.

Renewal and continuation are subject to the university's academic and conduct requirements.

Scholarship for International Students

International students can also apply for scholarships based on academic performance.

For eligible undergraduate programmes, international students with 95.01% or above in Class 12 may receive a 30% scholarship on the full fee. Students scoring 90.01–95% may receive 25%, 85.01–90% may receive 20%, and 75%–85% may receive 15%.

For MBA programmes, eligible international students with at least 75% marks in graduation may receive a 15% scholarship on the full fee.

Important Scholarship Conditions

Students should carefully check the scholarship eligibility criteria before applying. UPES may require applicants to submit academic records, entrance-examination scores, domicile certificates, income documents, sports certificates or other supporting documents depending on the scholarship category.

In several scholarship categories, students can receive only one admission-time scholarship or concession, with the applicable rules determining which benefit is awarded when multiple criteria are met. Scholarship benefits may also be subject to academic performance, attendance, conduct and other renewal requirements.
