The branch of health care science deals with the preparation, preservation, dispensing, and proper utilization of medical drugs. This is a branch of healthcare science that connects health science to chemical science for the proper utilization, safe and effective use of pharmaceutical or medical drugs.
Pharma is derived from the Greek word pharmacies which means poison. The word pharmacies are itself derived from pharmacon that means” drug”, "medicine" or "poison".
Bachelor of Pharmacy is an undergraduate course of 4 years divided into eight semesters. At the end of each semester, an individual has to qualify for written and practical examinations to get a promotion in the next session. Although it is a full-time four-year course, few of the Universities also provide a distance learning program at this level.
The Pharmacy Council of India is a legal body that regulates the pharmacy course up to the graduate level in India. In the course, duration student gets knowledge about drugs and medicines, Pharmaceutical Engineering and Medicinal Chemistry.
The curriculum includes Laboratory teaching, group discussions, case studies, hands-on training, and conferences which are necessary to develop analytical and industrial skills in an individual.
